I grew up in Northern California, as a wild outdoors child of the Sierra Nevadas and the Central Valley. I moved to Arizona to go to graduate school in 2008 and fell in love with the desert. My research focus in school was on the social and economic benefits of urban agriculture, work that I have expanded to include the social and economic benefits of high performing urban landscapes and how to use these in human centered design. My practice has centered on housing of all types, designing for health, green infrastructure and activating urban open space. I also enjoy designing temporary experiences focusing on the land, such as pop up events and interpretive experiences.
I have been living in the San Francisco Bay Area for the past 5 years and relocated back to the Valley in 2018 to teach at ASU, open a studio and be a part of this strong community of people designing a livable desert metropolis. I work in California and Arizona.
